Why is my vehicle consuming oil?
Engine oils are designed to evaporate by standard between 11 - 15%. Purpose is to release crankcase pressure and this pressure is redirected through PCV system to be burned in combustion chamber.
Some oil consumption is inherent. But the big question is, how much is too much? In any case over litre per thousand kilometres should be a concern.
There are many factors which can increase engine oil evaporation:
Oil dilution by fuel
Engine oil degradation, typically through oxidation
Mechanical wear
